Engage Locally
Missions Celebration
Sunday, November 2
As followers of Christ, we are surrounded by missions fields! Join us Sunday, November 2, during our morning worship hours until 12:30pm, to explore and learn more about the needs in this community and how we are called to engage those needs.
The morning holds a three-fold purpose:
*To realize the needs of the hurting and vulnerable around us
*To celebrate local works of compassion
*To inspire the Covenant family to engage more deeply in compassion work in our community
The morning includes our regular worship services at 9:00 and 10:30am, with break-out sessions beginning at 10:15am through 12:30pm. Wes Tillet with Lafayette Urban Ministry will be our guest speaker, and the break-out sessions will feature representatives from 14 local organizations plus a poverty simulation.
Students in kindergarten through grade 5 can enjoy games and pizza in the Retreat Center from 11:40am - 12:35pm.
Each of three identical break-out sessions will feature:
Poverty Simulation
Salvation Army, LUM, Food Finders
Bravely Women's Health, Murdock Elementary
Oasis & Joyful Journey
Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers/Sisters
Kairos, Trinity Mission
Isaiah 117 House, CASA, Safe Families
The sessions will run from 10:15 - 10:45am; 10:55 - 11:35am; 11:45am - 12:25pm. More details and a chance to sign up for a break-out session coming soon!
Bountiful snacks will be available throughout the morning in the Hub!
Please join us for this special morning of realization, celebration, and inspiration as we step more deeply into the needs of the hurting and vulnerable in our community and Jesus invitation to show radical compassion.
